Clinical Significance

Gas density estimates grams per liter from gram molecular weight. The constant 22.4 L is the approximate molar volume of an ideal gas at standard temperature and pressure.

Gas density helps explain flow behavior and why lower-density gas mixtures such as heliox can reduce turbulent-flow resistance.

This simplified calculation assumes standard molar volume of 22.4 L.
